Looking for a epic YA read to delve into this summer? Well, you’ve come to the right place. Today, it’s my stop on the The Way You Make Me Feel blog tour and I’ve got a book review, character quiz and epic giveaway in store for you. Ready? Let’s do this.
From the author of I Believe in a Thing Called Love, a laugh-out-loud story of love, new friendships, and one unique food truck. Clara Shin lives for pranks and disruption. When she takes one joke too far, her dad sentences her to a summer working on his food truck, the KoBra, alongside her uptight classmate Rose Carver. Not the carefree summer Clara had imagined. But maybe Rose isn’t so bad. Maybe the boy named Hamlet (yes, Hamlet) crushing on her is pretty cute. Maybe Clara actually feels invested in her dad’s business. What if taking this summer seriously means that Clara has to leave her old self behind? With Maurene Goo’s signature warmth and humor, The Way You Make Me Feel is a relatable story of falling in love and finding yourself in the places you’d never thought to look.
Blossoming friendships? Laugh-out-loud humour? Cute boys? The Way You Make Me Feel is a YA books you won’t be able to put down. Clara is a character you’ll instantly be in awe of. She’s snarky, sarcastic and loves causing mischief by pranking Rose – the school’s so called know-it-all. Rose, herself, is also an awesome character. She’s an over achiever and so many teens will be able to relate to the pressure she puts on her self.
That’s perhaps why her newfound friendship with Clara is so important. When Clara’s prom prank goes terribly wrong, her and Rose are forced to work together at KoBra (a food truck owned by Clara’s dishy dad, Adrian) and they put their differences aside and learn from each other. Clara develops a new can-do attitude, while Rose begins to learn that school isn’t the be all or end all – she becomes more relaxed around Clara and ultimately is introduced to her first female friend. It’s a great coming-of-age story and seeing these two amazing women become full-on #bbf goals and will totally warm your heart.
Another character that will get your heart racing is the dishy Hamlet. He’s Clara’s love interest in the novel and is a complete and utter labrador – her words, not mine. The duo’s ever-growing romance is so shippable and you’ll experience major heart eye moments when Clara is introduced to Hamlet’s adorable grandparents. What cuties.
To celebrate the upcoming release of The Way You Make Me Feel , I’ve put together a little quiz that tells you whether you’re more like Clara or Rose. Do you love pulling pranks or is debate club more your thing? Just answer the questions below to find out.
