Looking for some prop ideas for spring themed flat lays? Here are 5 suggestions for props that I’ve been using in photographs recently.
1. Fresh Flowers
Using fresh flowers in a photo is a simple yet overlooked way to give a flay lay a spring feel. I’d often recommend buying a bunch of flowers and shooting several different images with them over the space of a week – that way, you’ve made the most out of your purchase! Flowers that I’ve recently been loving are fresh tulips and daffodils.
2. Letter Boards
Another great prop for flat lay photography is letter boards. If you regularly read this blog, then you’ll know I’m a big fan of including a letter board in my free stock photos. They’re a great way to give an image a dash of quickness and can turn an otherwise standard flat lay into something contemporary and fun.
3. Perfume Bottles
If you’re looking for props that will give your photos a fresh, spring feel, try incorporating beauty items into your flat lays such as empty perfume bottles. They’re small and effective additions if you have gaps or space that you want to fill up in an image. They’re also a great way to give your photos a sense of personality as you’re showing your followers every day items that you use or own.
Another every day item that you can add to flat lays is stationery. Planners are a great addition to a photo. I also enjoy including pencils, pens and smaller items into images if I feel there’s too much negative space in a photo. You can experiment with different colours and styles. Also try layering up stationery if you want to create a less polished flat lay. Pens can be placed on top of notebooks or planners can be spread open with loose pages scattered around your shot.
5. Drinks & Snacks
My final suggestion of prop ideas for spring themed flat lays is drinks and snacks. Adding a cup of tea or coffee into a flat lay can, again, help with negative space. It’s also an inexpensive way to give an image a homey, more natural feel. Food is a great way to give a flat lay texture and depending on what you feature can make your images more timely. Add avocado on toast to a flat lay and immediately you’ve create a flat lay that offers an early-morning or weekend brunch feel.
